Synopsis

To help Starlight appreciate Hearth's Warming, Twilight reads to her her favorite holiday story "A Hearth's Warming Tail" where a grouchy unicorn named Snowfall Frost (Starlight Glimmer) plans to end Hearth's Warming by erasing it with magic, until she is visited by 3 ghosts to show her just how important the holiday is.

  • A take on A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens with Starlight Glimmer playing Snowfall Frost (a take on Ebeneezer Scrooge), Rainbow Dash as Snowdash.(a take on Bob Cratchit), Applejack as The Spirit of Hearth's Warming Past (a take on The Ghost of Christmas Past), Pinkie Pie as The Spirit of Hearth's Warming Presents (a take on The Ghost of Christmas Present) and Princess Luna as The Spirit of Hearth's Warming Yet to Come (a take on The Ghost of Christmas Future). Featherweight also cameos in the story as a pony with a crutch, referencing the Christmas Carol character Tiny Tim.
  • In additional, writer Michael Vogel revealed that the original script also had Discord planned to appear in the episode as a take on the Christmas Carol character Jacob Marley, but was cut for time.
