From Chris :

This wonderful short really shows off both Tim Burton's storytelling ability and his poetic ability. The early prelude to his work on Nightmare Before Christmas is probably the best short to come out since the early days in the 20's-50's. I watch it all the time and am always entertained.

From Candy :

I saw Vincent for the first time on a Halloween special on the Disney Channel in the 80s. I saw it again on the laserdisc of Nightmare Before Christmas. In his book The Disney Films, Leonard Maltin said that the Disney Studio didn't know what to make of Tim Burton or his macabre film. But it's to their credit that they took a chance and let him make it. It's one of the better things Disney made during that dark period. I say "dark" because so many things produced in the 80s were dark, both visually and emotionally. A lot of Sword-and-Sorcery films came out during that time. Also, Disney was going through a bad time financially. So it's fitting that they put out so many dark films at the time; Something Wicked This Way Comes, Return to Oz, and The Black Cauldron.

Vincent Price narrated the short. Tim Burton talked about how he's a Vincent Price fan on the Nightmare Before Christmas laserdisc. I'm a Vincent Price fan, too. I wish Disney would've used Vincent Price in more things. He also did the voice for the villain Ratigan in The Great Mouse Detective. In the short Vincent, Tim Burton spoofs some Vincent Price films like House of Wax and The Raven. He filmed it in black and white, which made it look like an old horror film. It was better in black and white; color would've have taken away from its spooky feeling. Disney ought to make more experimental things like this.

From Bekka :

I must say that Tim Burton, having always been my favorite director, has found something wonderful with Vincent! Before I watched it, Edward Scissor Hands was my favorite of his, as I'm sure many can agree, but now I absolutely love this! I must give it a Ten!

From Ryan Hipp :

Tim Burton's directorial debut, Vincent, is a very personal film. Vincent Price (narrator, idol to Vincent in film) is Tim Burton's real life idol. Tim Burton is MY idol, and I hope to see more of his genius in the near future.

From Tabitha :

This film I think was one of Tim's finest. It looked like he was in his peak, unlike "Corpse Bride" which was beautiful but lacked in the story. "Vincent" seemed to have a real poetic justice to it, in the form of Edger Allen Poe. I truly enjoyed this short film, it was very creative and sets the right mood for me.
