Cut Scenes

Inside Jokes

  • The title is based on a mondegreen (or a misheard or comically misinterpreted phrase from a song or poem) in which case, the lyric "all of the other reindeer" from "Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer". In addition, two other characters are derived by a mondegreen (Richard Stands, who's name sounds similiar to the phrase "which it stands" from the U.S. Pledge of Allegiance, and Round John Virgin, who's name is taken from the phrase "round yon virgin" from the song "Silent Night", which Olive mentions but Round John claims he doesn't know what she's talking about).
  • Along the way to Arctic Junction, the bus Olive travels in passes a sign that reads "Frostbite Falls, Next Exit." This is a reference to the home of cartoon characters Rocky and Bullwinkle.
  • While trapped in the Postman's truck, Olive sees a package addressed to her from "Deus Ex Machina" and inside is a metal file to help her escape. This is a joke referring to a "Deus ex machina", a plot device in a story where a unsolvable problem is suddenly resolved by an unexpected and unlikely occurrence.

Trivia

  • Based on the book of the same name by Vivian Walsh (and illustrated by J. Otto Seibold).
