Trivia
- The film was originally developed by Chris Sanders (creator and co-director of Lilo & Stitch) as "American Dog", which featured a similar storyline, but had major character and location changes (the latter which most of the story took place in the deserts of the American Southwest (similar to the location of Cars). The original characters in the development (who would eventually become Bolt, Mittens, and Rhino respectively in the final product) included Henry, the main dog, who originally had much more of a "Stitch" look, Ogo, a male cat with an eye patch who worked as a mechanic in a junkyard (this character eventually became the star of Sanders' webcomic, "Kiskaloo"), and an oversized radioactive rabbit. Eventually Sanders was replaced by Chris Williams and Byron Howard, and the project was overhauled in late 2006.
- Chloƫ Grace Moretz, who voiced young Penny, was in fact going to be voice of Penny (and even voiced her for the entire film) until Miley Cyrus was placed on the project.
- John Travolta was always the first choice for the voice for Bolt.
