Inside Jokes

  • On the walls of the cartoonist's office space, you can see the actual Philbert model sheets the animators used during production.

Trivia

  • Was originally a pilot for a scrapped TV series, which was then released theatrically.
  • This pilot was originally going to air on ABC, but due to a change in executives, almost all upcoming WB TV series that were supposed to be aired on ABC were canned (including Philbert).
  • Art Leonardi on the DVD commentary shares that camera operator John "Johnny" Burton Jr. was happy this series was canned because to get the animation to fit the live action, they'd have to rotoscope the entire scene so the character believably inhabits the space. Burton was pleased he didn't have to deal with that kind of workload for a weekly series.
