From TibbyH :

Theatrical films based off animated TV shows usually get a bad wrap, but I think this film is the pinnacle example on how to do it right. The Spongebob Squarepants Movie is a delightful, action-packed film that almost perfectly captures what worked about the source material while presenting it in a more elaborate manner. The animation is higher quality, the broad range of creative posing and expressions is to die for, and the moral is oddly inspiring the older we get. You can tell Hillenberg and the rest of the staff put their all into the production (it's even been said they treated the film as the finale to the Spongebob franchise) and the result is a great tightly written film stuffed to the brim with cleverness and charm. If for any reason you've skipped this film I recommend you give it a watch.
