The Rocky Road to Ruin
A very obvious Dover Boys clone. Without the great humor of the original. John MacLeish also worked on the original. Even doing the narration. Good animation and art doesn't save what is a clone of a Chuck Jones classic.
We're On Our Way to Rio
Probably the best of the Famous Studios cartoons in my opinion. Very slick animation, and amazing music score. The restoration makes it all the more enjoyable.
Sheep Shape
Famous Studios does "Red Hot Riding Hood" surprisingly well. To be fair it isn't a complete copy or anything but "Sheep Shape" is one of the funniest Noveltoons. I especially love the scenes with Wolfie in the nightclub. With some funny takes and gags. It's not on the level of Tex Avery but for Famous Studios it's certainly the greatest that the studio could offer.
Pass the Biscuits Mirandy!
A fun entry in the "Swing Symphony" series. Real catchy tune, and some fun gags make this one a treat. A few dated war time references or gags near the end may make this one a bit harder to approach now to some, but a fun cartoon none the less.
Riot in Rhythm
Nothing more than a slow remake of the far superior "Me Musical Nephews" from 1942. The highlight of the original which is the fun, and fast paced musical sequence with the nephews is here, but without the fast pace, and timing which made the original work so well. You're better off watching it.
