I believe some of the cropped shorts were fixed on the Looney Tunes Platinum Collections.

Can someone please verify whether their copy of LTGC Vol. 2, Disc 4 contains The Curious Puppy? I've just gone through my copy, and it's not there. It's not listed in the contents for any disc in that volume, nor does it appear to be an "unlisted" title on the disc in question.

Hasn't been on DVD as far as I know. Certainly not in that DVD.

That's what I thought, but I figured I'd at least try to verify. So far, it's the only discrepancy I've found in this list.

No official release NTSC that I'm aware of on any format.

There is no versions released officially. That fixes, Bugs Superstars or Daffy Superstars releases, or any other that has been cropped/matted! Least in NTSC

I agree with this site (goldenagecartoons) you have to search, they don't recognize the matted ones officially released either!

This is my stance on the subject.

Academy contians more top and bottom of the viewable frame than CinemaScope
CinemaScope contains more left and right of the viewable frame than Academy

Academy Ratio (AR) Film in the Academy Ratio is 1.37:1

Though the historical aspect ratio can be 2.55:1

Fullscreen (FS) Using pan and scan to adjust Academy Ratio to 1.33:1

Resulting in an insignificant loss of the left, right, top and bottom of the viewable frame
Fullscreen contains less left, right, top and bottom of the viewable frame than Academy

CinemaScope Ratio (WS) Film in the CinemaScope Ratio is 2.35:1

Though the historical aspect ratio can be 2.55:1

Fullscreen (FS) Using pan and scan to adjust CinemaScope Ratio to 1.33:1

Resulting in a significant loss of the left and right of the viewable frame
Fullscreen contains less left and right of the viewable frame than CinemaScope

Academy Ratio Matted (ARM) Using hard-matte to adjust Academy Ratio to 1.85:1

Resulting in a significant loss of the top and bottom of the viewable frame

What I noticed is they didn't just crop the shorts, but they EDITED every scene trying to make it fit the screen, I compared them with the FS versions. It was just a dumb idea by WB.

Presuming you're referring to "The Curious Puppy", it's on the Golden Age of Looney Tunes, Vol. 5 LaserDisc set (side 5, specifically), but good luck finding that for anything less than a ransom.

Got me on that one, I forgot to check that one.

Looks like they used a colorized version of "The Lone Stranger and Porky" on the new "Hunchback of Notre Dame" Blu-ray:

Why? The whole movie is in BW, so why would anyone care for a colourised version of a Porky cartoon?

Which is why I never count LD releases.

Actually, some laserdisc releases have stuff still not released DVD and/or Bluray. I'm not a collector of Bluray, but do hunt down older official formats.

But the older B/W cartoons are definitely tough to find on any official release.

I've been picking up the LD releases whenever I've found them for reasonable prices (presuming they contain shorts not available on DVD/BR, of course). If you do enough hunting, even most of the Golden Age sets can be found on occasion for cheap (with the exception of Vol. 5). I've still got a working LD deck, though, and if it ever breaks down beyond repair it's only getting harder to find reliable replacements (and I may not even try at this point).

I won't even look at VHS tapes anymore, though. Even if it was well cared-for, they're just too likely to break/warp/snap/etc.

Where do you get a laserdisc player fixed? Mine died completely in September 2012. It's a Pioneer that doesn't require flipping the disc, and it also plays DVD's and CD's, so I think it's worth fixing, if it's possible.

Cartoons from the following releases that still need to be added:

-Looney Tunes Platinum Collection Volume 3 Blu-ray and DVD releases (I counted, not all of them are listed)
-Looney Tunes Musical Masterpieces DVD
-Private SNAFU Golden Classics Blu-ray

Thank you.

Alright, LARGE UPDATE TIME:

Yeah, nope. I did some digging and the Platinum Collections did apparently fix some shorts from the Bugs and Daffy Superstars releases. These four were released on the Looney Tunes Platinum Collection Volume 1 release (Blu-Ray and DVD) in their original aspect ratios afaik:

*Bedeviled Rabbit (from Bugs Bunny Superstars)
*Mad as a Mars Hare (from Bugs Bunny Superstars)
*Dr. Devil and Mr. Hare (from Bugs Bunny Superstars)
*Ducking The Devil (from Daffy Duck Superstars)

The Curious Puppy error is interesting. I don't remember adding it there, but it doesn't seem to come from the GAC version I originally imported here back in 2011 either. Not sure what happened there, but the listing has been removed.

I'd also like to thank Bobby Bickert for the following additions to the list thanks to his Warner Archive emails. He sent these to me around a month ago and I apologize for not getting them up sooner:
*Young and Healthy - 42nd Street Blu-Ray
*Shuffle Off To Buffalo - 42nd Street Blu-Ray
*Falling Hare - Thank Your Lucky Stars Blu-Ray
*Little Red Riding Rabbit - Thank Your Lucky Stars Blu-Ray

Other various updates:
*I've added the following to the Notes section:
- The Looney Tunes Superstars: Bugs Bunny, Looney Tunes Superstars: Daffy Duck, Looney Tunes: Unleashed, and The Best of Bugs
Bunny DVDs all feature cropped shorts (meaning that some shorts presented on these discs are not presented in their proper aspect
ratio). The first two contain 10 cropped shorts, while the last two contain 2 cropped shorts. However, three shorts included on the
Bugs Bunny Superstars release (Bedeviled Rabbit, Mad as a Mars Hare, and Dr. Devil and Mr. Hare) and one short on the Daffy Duck
Superstars release (Ducking The Devil) have been released in their proper aspect ratioon the Looney Tunes Platinum Collection Volume
One release.
- The Lone Stranger and Porky is only available in it's colorized form on the home media release.
- Duck Dodgers in the 24 1/2th Century is encoded in SD on the Calamity Jane Blu-Ray.
- All shorts included on the Looney Tunes Spotlight Collection Volume 4 and Looney Tunes Spotlight Collection Volume 5 DVDs are
included in the Looney Tunes Spotlight Collection Double Feature Volume 2 DVD.
*Bosko The Talk-Ink Kid was included on Technicolor Dreams and Black and White Nightmares release, and it would seem that I forgot to include that on here! That has been added to the list now.
*Other grammatical and housekeeping cleanups to the list

I'll be working on Private Snafu later and will add Musical Masterpieces and LTPC Volume Three soon. Thank you guys for the info and continuing to support this despite my lack of updating! :)

EDIT: Private Snafu is all done. 🙂

Another update:
*I've added the bonus shorts included on the Looney Tunes: Rabbits Run DVD coming out in August
*Looney Tunes Musical Masterpieces has been fully added
*I did some more grammar corrections, particularly to the Looney Tunes: Unleashed and Looney Tunes: The Best of Bugs Bunny releases

Looney Tunes Platinum Collection Volume Three will be finished up soon.

EDIT: Looney Tunes Platinum Collection Volume Three Disc One is checked and complete. Will work on Disc Two tomorrow.

UPDATE 6/30/15:
*Disc Two of Looney Tunes Platinum Collection Volume Three has been fully added to the list. I believe that finally covers all the releases to this date. Feel free to post here or PM me for any new additions to the list in the future! 🙂
