So that you tube clip is an accurate sound representation on D.D.? And do you recommend fans to buy this? My copy should arrive by Wed.

Yes, and yes, absolutely. Without hesitation. I think at this point an irritating gaffe on one or two of the cartoons is a given, but if they don't shit themselves completely, ala Porky 69, it has to be commended and supported.

Glad the set is fine.

However, I could go without that brash (hidden number)obscene name calling on "Porky". We all get your understandable disappointment. You don't have deeply rub it in to our web browser.

The Porky set was so shitty that people are still approaching the Warner Archive releases with trepidation 2+ years later, even when they really shouldn't. I think at this point, though, with a score of 6:1 (I'm counting the H-B sets here), people can rest easy...

Glad to hear that report.

The non-chronological approach will be worth it if it means that none of the cartoons will end up like the worst-looking cartoons on the Tom and Jerry Golden Collection.

Another thing I suddenly remembered George Feltenstein saying on the podcast, on the topic of how these classic motion picture cartoons were made: "These are not episodes."

Right... so why does even a Warner Archive Blu-ray insist on calling them that? :P Not that this is anything new with Warner's cartoon releases.

Amen to that. I just watched "The Zoot Cat" from both the Golden Collection Blu-ray and the old Turner TV print on the Spotlight Collection... and the difference is insane. The colors are destroyed in the print Warner used for their HD restoration. This is one of my all-time favorite T&Js, so if Warner is really re-scanning everything in their library in 4K, I hope it (and the other inferior-looking entries) can get a new and properly done restoration one day.

That was one of my childhood favorites...seeing that print makes me sick...
Honestly, there were only 2 Metrocolor prints they used in that set that looked somewhat decent. Those being "Puss Gets the Boot" and "The Lonesome Mouse". Everything else looks horrid.

It really is sickening when you compare them. I had been watching "Zoot Cat" off the Blu-ray for years and almost forgotten how much better the colors are supposed to look. Now I have trouble looking at it on the BD.

"Puss Gets the Boot" actually looks pretty decent despite being sourced from a TV negative. You can tell the picture quality is not up to snuff with the surrounding cartoons that were restored from first-rate sources; but the color looks nicer than any of the old video prints I've seen. (And it doesn't have the 60s MGM lion logo, either.)

When it comes to "The Lonesome Mouse"... yeah, it's not the worst example I've seen. But the colors aren't exactly optimal on that, either.

Good news! Even though Amazon said by copy would arrive next month, they told me today that my copy shipped and that I should get it tomorrow!

I'm happy to brag that I received Tex Avery Screwball Classics Volume 1 today. Everything looks great so far but haven't really got to sit down and watch them yet. If the Droopy cartoons are "fixed" versus the mess that we had before them I'm pretty happy already. Also several less well-known classics to finally get to revisit.

And that means no one should be allowed to criticize the set?

'Cause it sure as hell sounds like that's what you're saying.

I was slightly deafened the set from some people that went too far bashing it. Can we please move on?

So you're saying that Thad and others who criticized the set for its considerable probems went "too far bashing it". Right...

And in response to this:

What I don't get is why you constantly have to rub your bitterness towards anyone and everyone criticizing the set deeply into peoples' web browsers. You have been doing this for 2+ years now, and know what? I think everybody here is VERY familiar with the grudges you keep holding against everyone who, in your eyes, picked the "wrong side" with regard to Porky Pig 101.

Trailers From Hell just made their review of the set.
I always come to TTTP in Exile in the hope of finding news about Warner announcing Tex Avery Collection.
