"I will answer more questions about this set tomorrow when I put in a cameo appearance on Stu’s Show (I’ll pop in during the first half hour – Skype be willing) – and more so on on my full-length appearance on the show Dec. 19th."

It's been so long since he has been on a regular news show since March, but here is the description this time around:

"It's the last live Wednesday show of 2018, and what better way to end the year and to celebrate the upcoming holidays than with a visit from "the king of all things cartoons"? Jerry will review the latest feature films including "Ralph Breaks the Internet", "The Grinch", and "Mary Poppins Returns". We'll also discuss the latest and upcoming arrivals in print media, plus we'll dish the latest animation news in TV, streaming, and home video (including more on the new Popeye Blu Ray from the WB Archives). Jerry will also bring three full-length classic animation titles from his vault that we'll screen as an extra seasonal treat. All this, and we'll read your e-mails!"

http://www.stusshow.com/

And the site now has the New Year's Eve promo on it and for animation fans, Jimmy Weldon is going to return on NYE if all goes well.

Here is the latest update to get prepared for this coming Stu's Show program this Wednesday and the NYE show (Stu posts reminders usually on Sunday nights before the Wednesday show via email/newsletter):

"Animation author/historian JERRY BECK will be back for his annual holiday visit on the LIVE show this Wednesday 12/19 starting at 4 pm PT/7 pm ET. This edition is going to be jam-packed. We'll be talking about the latest feature films - "Ralph Breaks the Internet", "The Grinch", and "Mary Poppins Returns", and we'll also discuss upcoming theatricals including Tim Burton's live action "Dumbo" and a few others. We'll talk books including the new Gerstein/Taschen "Mickey Mouse Ultimate History", plus new offerings on the horizon spotlighting the UPA cartoon studio and the original (and the best) "Alvin Show" and Ross Bagdasarian Sr. Then there's streaming - "Rocky and Bullwinkle" on Amazon Prime and new Popeye shorts on YouTube...and of course, the big news - the ORIGINAL color Popeye cartoons from 1943 and 1944 have just been released on Blu Ray and DVD via the WB Archives. Jerry will have exclusive and detailedinformation regarding this disc and other new releases in home video. Plus - he's bringing three more classic cartoons that we will be screening from the "Beck Archives". Don't miss this one, folks! You can watch us on the web site - stusshow.com, on the Facebook "Stu's Show" group page, or on the Stu's Show TV Channel on your Roku device. Audio simulcasts can be heard via the web site, via iTunes (Radio/Talk Shows), Tune-In Radio, and the other usual places.

And a reminder that I want YOU to participate in New Year's Eve with us this year by recording a short (10-20 second) greeting that we can play coming out of our commercial breaks. I have slots available for FOUR more of you - that's it - only 4 - so please e-mail me right away to reserve your slot at stu@stusshow.com. I'll give you instructions on how to record yours with your cell phone or video camera and how to get it to me. I need these by next weekend - 12/22. Be a part of our live broadcast on Monday, December 31. Tune us in and have a chance to win big prizes this year - bigger and better than ever!

See you Wednesday LIVE with JERRY BECK!"

Well, let's hope the last four spots are by you guys. Anyway, here is the link to watch (this goes live 30 minutes prior to the show starting):

The part of the article I had embolden led to my having found what appeared to had been a certain Facebook page regarding a certain "book" named ""Aaaaalllviiinnn!: The Story of Ross Bagdasarian, Sr.,
Liberty Records, Format Films and The Alvin Show" (the creator or creators of the article might had been referencing this "book" with the part of the article I had referenced).

Time to get ready today for all of you to send e-mails (keep them short and to the point). It may be a longer show than usual given that some of the regular Stu's Show programs have gone over 4 hours and that emails may be cut off at Stu's request.

Guess Jerry Beck's going to plug his ASIFA/UCLA preservation work now that the line-up for a screening in February has just been unveiled:

And we're underway!

Stu's talking about NYE where he wants the first 4 to email to do a video recording for the program coming up on December 31st where he has 4 slots left. Also talking about a follow up to the previous show.

Popeye 1940's talk going on.

Apparently, it all started when Warner was scanning things in 4K including some Popeyes. George told Jerry and then Jerry suggested to tell them to do the first 2 film seasons.

Notes on Pop-Pie A La Mode:

-Warner originally scanned the a.a.p. print and when Jerry told them they have the original negative, they found it and scanned that.

-Because Warner owns the rights to the Popeye shorts, there's more "lineage".

Tom and Jerry GC Volume 2 still on hold. Not putting that set out for now.

Scan and minimal clean-up was all they could afford for Popeye the 1940's V1.

Sales are looking good, things are looking good. ;)

11 sets in the works from Thunderbean. Flip the Frog is nearing the finish line, extras in the works and we're seeing a (pre-Hayes) cartoon from the set! Van Beauren's Rainbow Parade, (non-Disney) Alice in Wonderland restoration too.

Jonny Quest on Blu-ray coming (we knew that via Comic-con). Original commercials plus ORIGINAL end credits! No ABC stuff though.

If Jonny Quest sells, we may see more Hanna-Barbera primetime shows on deck (it's not Where's Huddles, it's not Wait Til Your Father Gets Home). ;)

He's cutting the e-mails off as of now, no more. I had a feeling he was going to do that given the number already sent in.

He has also warned listeners that if they wrote more than once, only one e-mail question/comment will be read on the air.

Stu is now pleading to get three more (and as a backup is using Jerry Beck's short greeting on the show right now as one of them) video greetings for the NYE show. I hope it will be all of you guys out there with cellphone capability (via e-mail response).

Stu's plugging New Year's Eve again with the 2-hour classic block at 5 pm PT/8 pm ET followed by the 6-hour extravaganza (and maybe more) at 7 pm PT/10 pm ET. Jimmy Weldon is going to be on the show at some point.

Stu is also going to change the grand prize this year to allow everyone an opportunity to win the grand prize because he has done a mathematical question that no one would get but yet a few get it right away within the first 40 minutes. He'll let you all know come December 31st.

And that's a wrap!

Er, I should've been more straightforward on my question.

Anyhow, here is the list of cartoons that Jerry presented tonight:

The Snowman (Eshbaugh, 1933)

Fire-Fire* (Iwerks, 1932)Flip the Frog

Topsy TV (Terrytoons, 1957)

*That's how it's titled during the credits.

Toonatic summed it up pretty well but I can add a few things that were missed out.

No Looney Tunes announcements or hints, only thing remotely close to that is that Jerry is involved in a lot of projects that he cannot discuss

The reason the racist Popeye short got through legal is because they own the shorts, however they don't own Popeye. He is not currently a WB character or a popular one so they got away with it. This means no Tom and Jerry Vol 2 or Censored Eleven for the forseeable future.

If Jonny Quest on Blu-ray sells well, we have a good chance of getting Top Cat on Blu-ray. Jerry did not state that Top Cat was the show but he made it ridiculously obvious by stating it was a SINGLE season primetime Hanna Barbera cartoon and then ruling out the only other two single season primetime Hanna Barbera shows in existence. Single season means no Flintstones or Jetsons.

The full show is now available in the archives (all 222 minutes of it) on both audio and PPV if you want to catch it again. Don't forget to also become a VIP listener if you haven't done so already (I know there are some here who have).

http://www.stusshow.com/viplisteners.html

And oh, it would be nice if Stu could fill the New Year video greetings (10-20 seconds each) by the 22nd. There are three slots left (as of the end of this show), and if you haven't done it, then go do it right now with your cellphone or video camera and e-mail him directly for a one-on-one talk on how to record, and to submit the greeting.
