Just getting around to watching yesterday's round of shorts (from Oct. 20th, 2018), and there's one interesting thing to point out: One Droopy Knight was broadcast in its original Cinemascope ratio! Has it ever been broadcast on TV in recent years like this? The print they showed looked great too (not sure if it was actually in HD, but it sure looked like it was!).

I had remembered seeing a movie named "One Droopy Knight" being broadcast in what might had been that very format ("Cinemascope") for a certain programming feed related to Turner Classic Movies in years past.

Very late on this, but thank you for the info! :)

Anywho, it's almost November, so here's what'll be shown Saturday Mornings in November over on TCM!:

November 3rd, 2018
*8AM - Barney Bear: Barney Bear's Victory Garden (1942) (playing during The Gunman (1952))
*10AM - Popeye The Sailor: A Clean Shaven Man (1936) (playing during The Saint in Palm Springs (1941))

November 10th, 2018
Pre-empted due to a Veteran's Day Weekend War Movie Marathon (I'd recommend recording the movies playing during the 8AM - 12PM timeslots anyways, just in case they sneak one in as a time-filler. I'll edit this post if anything ends up airing.).

November 17th, 2018
*8AM - MGM Cartoons: Jerky Turkey (1945) (playing during Montana Incident (1952))
*10AM - Popeye The Sailor: Brotherly Love (1936) (playing during The Saint's Vacation (1941))

November 24th, 2018
*8AM - Droopy: Grin and Share It (1957) (playing during Wyoming Roundup (1952))
*10AM - Popeye The Sailor: I-Ski, Love-Ski, You-Ski (1936) (playing during The Saint Meets The Tiger (1943))

November has almost come and went, so it's time for the TCM Saturday Morning Cartoon listings for December!:

December 1st, 2018
*8AM - MGM Cartoons: Peace on Earth (1939) (playing during Song of the Saddle (1936))
*10AM - Popeye The Sailor: Bridge Ahoy! (1936) (playing during The Penguin Pool Murder (1932))

December 8th, 2018
*8AM - The Captain and the Kids: The Captain's Christmas (1938) (playing during Trailin' West (1936))
*10AM - Popeye The Sailor: What--No Spinach (1936) (playing during Murder on the Blackboard (1934))

Late December 10th, 2018/Early December 11th, 2018
Interestingly enough, TCM is sneaking in a MGM cartoon on a late Monday/early Tuesday morning this month! The time listed below is very much a rough estimate though, so I'd recommend recording a few minutes before the start time listed, and at least until 6AM ET on Tuesday morning (perhaps a few minutes after 6AM as well).

*5:30AM - MGM Cartoons: The Pup's Christmas (1936) (playing after Winter People (1989), which starts at 3:30AM ET)

December 15th, 2018
*8AM - MGM Cartoons: Alias St. Nick (1935) (playing during Treachery Rides The Range (1936))
*10AM - Popeye The Sailor: I Wanna Be A Lifeguard (1936) (playing during Murder on a Honeymoon (1935))

December 22nd, 2018
Pre-empted due to a Christmas Movie Marathon (I'd recommend recording the movies playing during the 8AM - 12PM timeslots anyways, just in case they sneak one in as a time-filler. I'll edit this post if anything ends up airing.).

December 29th, 2018
*8AM - MGM Cartoons: The Ventriloquist Cat (1950) (playing during Guns of the Pecos (1937))
*10AM - Popeye The Sailor: Let's Get Movin' (1936) (playing during Murder on a Bridle Path (1936))

Holy cow, I almost forgot to post the listings here! Super sorry about that.

Before I list them though, just want to note that TCM's Saturday Morning broadcasts of classic cartoons will likely be on hiatus for the entire month of February, as well as the first week of March, due to TCM's annual "31 Days of Oscars" month-long event (I'll report here if any cartoons show up during the usual timeslots). However, TCM will still be showing something animated related during the event!: "Gulliver's Travels" (1939) will be shown early-morning February 6th at 4:30AM ET! (not the greatest timeslot for it, but it's better than no animation at all).

Without further ado, here's what'll be shown in January over on TCM! (all times Eastern):

January 5th, 2019
*8AM - Droopy: Wags To Riches (1949) (playing during Somewhere in Sonora (1933))
*10AM - Popeye The Sailor: Never Kick A Woman (1936) (playing during The Plot Thickens (1936))

January 12th, 2019
*8AM - Happy Harmonies: The Lost Chick (1935) (playing during The Man From Monterey (1933))
*10AM - Popeye The Sailor: Little Swee' Pea (1936) (playing during Forty Naughty Girls (1938))

January 19th, 2019
*8AM - Barney Bear: Barney Bear's Polar Pest (1944) (playing during The Star Packer (1934))
*10AM - Popeye The Sailor: Hold The Wire (1936) (playing during The Case of the Howling Dog (1934))

January 26th, 2019
Pre-empted due to a two-day "SAG Lifetime Achievement Award" movie marathon...yikes, guess the hiatus starts a week earlier than I originally thought!

Just bumping this as a reminder that starting this Saturday, TCM's presentation of classic cartoons will more than likely be on hiatus for six weeks (they'll definitely resume on March 9th!). The long hiatus is mainly due to the annual "31 Days of Oscars" event going on all February and the beginning of March. This Saturday, however, the cartoons are being pre-empted by a "SAG Lifetime Achievement Award" movie marathon.

In the meantime, TCM will be showcasing "Gulliver's Travels" (1939) early in the morning on February 6th at 4:30AM ET! (my bad, I accidentally listed the Central Time Zone time in my last post). It's not much, but it's better than nothing!

Could anyone be able to record a decent copy of the first Captain and the Kids cartoon, "Cleaning House", if they show it? I've never seen any version of that one except this terrible-looking copy.

Just for the record: Warner restored all the MGM Cinemascope cartoons in high definition during the 2000s. The print you saw of "One Droopy Knight" was undoubtedly the same that was released on the Droopy DVD set in 2007. So it very likely did air on TCM in true HD. :)

Thank you very much for the info! I was honestly not aware of that.

Not sure how much help I can be in the recording department, but I can definitely keep an eye out for "Cleaning House" on the TCM schedule for you! :)

I don't know if it WILL air... but if it does, it would be great to see a recording of it.

Since this is awards month, are any Academy Award winning or nominated animated shorts planed to air sometime this month? I expect them to air something like "The Milky Way" (1940) as a filler.

Not trying to step on Looney Tunes Fan's toes...but I wanted to point out that on Saturday March 9th, Popeye returns to the TCM lineup at 10am with "The Spinach Roadster".

With that, I'm returning the thread back to Looney Tunes Fan.

Yes. Sorry, I wasn’t thinking. The Happy Harmonies resume as well, with 1935’s “The Chinese Nightingale”.

Thank you LeeB for posting March 9th's listings for me. The long 6-week hiatus made me completely forget that the shorts were returning on March 9th (and on top of that, got sick and felt completely miserable - yuck!)

Pre-empted due to the annual 31 Days of Oscars event.

March 9th, 2019
*8AM - Happy Harmonies: The Chinese Nightingale (1935) (played during Randy Rides Alone (1934)) (go here to watch online! (expires March 16th, 2019))
*10AM - Popeye The Sailor: The Spinach Roadster (1936) (played during The Case of the Curious Bride (1935)) (go here to watch online! (expires March 16th, 2019))

March 16th, 2019
*8AM - Barney Bear: Wee-Willie Wildcat (1953) (playing during The Lawless Frontier (1935))
*10AM - Popeye The Sailor: I'm In The Army Now (1936) (playing during The Case of the Lucky Legs (1935))

*8AM - MGM Cartoons: Officer Pooch (1941) (playing during The Devil's Saddle Legion (1937))
