I had mention earlier that I was going to begin redoing the site sometime later this year. This will be the official thread for giving me your ideas for what you would like to see accomplished with this project.

Feel free to be outlandish! I may not use all your ideas, but I'd like to hear them anyway to give me an idea of what direction we should be going. I will be updating the list here of any ideas I think will be practical, so give me your best shot! (This list will supercede any ideas listed in the (now defunct) Projex thread.)

1: Page to compare cartoons on different video releases. (Would need someone to step up and provide comparitive graphics)
2: Ability to add hashtags to screenshots
3: Ability to create watch list to be informed when an entry has been updated.
4: Ability to add second set of video commentary.
5: Set up Awards page.
6: List videos chronologically.
7: Set up tabs on video/manufacturers page for different formats.
8: Set up editing interface for videos.
9: Skimming through the forum posts, I was wondering if someone had mentioned reworking the music listings. Unfortunately, with the current setup it's rather difficult to find songs: not only is the list not in alphabetical order, but there's no way to search artists, song titles, etc. Additionally, it seems the system doesn't check for identically named entries, so I've seen a few duplicates pass through.
10: Install system to temporarily upload video graphics.
11: Install system to temporarily upload screenshots.
12: Install system to find titles reissued under a different name.
13: Page to view Series chronologically
14: Interface to change source of credits
15: Maybe we should have a list of dates for certain titles. They can be copyright dates, delivery dates (when cartoons were delivered to the distributor), premiere dates (be they formal premieres for theatrical films like in Hollywood or Annecy, or first airings of TV episodes), "announced" or "general" release dates (good for pre-1970s stuff, when production issues didn't always guarantee the release), preview dates (i.e., convention or benefit screening), earliest known showings, and the sort.
16: Maybe for characters with a "The" in their name (i.e., "The Brain"), we should find away to flip it like we do with titles.
17: Extended corrections page (give researchers ability to see when their corrections have been dealt with)
18: Submitters credit for character graphics submission

Videos
19: Video page should have dropdown if more than 5 discs
20: Video page should link to new page if series has more than 10 entries

SERIES

21: Characters on series page should go to new page if more than 10 entries.

ENTRIES

22: Video commentaries list of specific cartoon pages.
23: Ratings should link to pop-up showing who rated and entry.

Loving all of this so far! As far as suggestions go:

[quote=eutychus;37749]4: Ability to add second set of video commentary.[quote=eutychus;37749]
I guess you mean audio commentaries on DVD/Blu/UHD. On that topic, supposing a 2nd disc includes an alternate version of the film, it should be where if you add it, list what version it is and if a differing commentary is included or no commentary at all, it should come up as such.

Like for example, this lists the commentary for Who Framed Roger Rabbit is on both discs when really it's only on the second:
https://intanibase.com/iad_video/video?videoID=712&seriesID=11

I know it's the problem of the interface, so if that could be look into too, that'd be great.

Also, I noticed when we add a distributor to a title, we're given an option to leave a note (like for example: MGM distributed the Tom and Jerry shorts from their initial theatrical release til 1986 when Turner took over and then nearly a decade later Warner), but no notes are listed once it's added so if there can be a way for that to be fixed too though it might raise more problems (I.E. TOO MANY distributors listed).

This might also be a tall order to fill, but if we can add search functions to look for a certain home video release or a certain cartoon when adding connections to another, that'd be great too.

If there is an update to the design of the site, I would like to see a "Site Overview" for it as well. I think there was going to be one in the "How-To" Forum some years ago. I have only been around maybe 2 years, and I'm still learning various pages that were tucked away in some places. It'd be nice if I knew an example of all the features here, so apologies if these suggestions are already on the site, and I just don't know how to do it.

My first suggestion is for Collections, unless I am misunderstanding what the "My Private Collections" section does, but is there already a way to view and sort collections of the Home Media? Like if I wanted to sort the different formats like DVD Collection, or a VHS Collection. I tried adding a few, but I don't see them.

It would also be cool if I could check how much a TV Series is on home media, at a glance, rather than opening the whole series and browsing each page. Perhaps a separate tab that lists the series like a spreadsheet, since there doesn't appear to be any title cards for a lot of shows. But I might be only thinking this because the series I tend to watch do not have any title cards, like Batman - The Animated Series(1992).

For Characters, I would like to be able to see how the characters look from each show, rather than from whole franchise, but that might be another can of worms to deal with. I'm sure Batman has too many different appearances and styles to categorize all of them. But something kind of like the Website for Behind The Voice Actors.

I finally figured out a way how to do it and you can see the results here:

John Lennon showing both caricatures

The Beatles series cartoon showing the caricatures there.

Yellow Submarine showing the updates caricatures.

It's not something that's easily done and so far I have to go straight into the raw database and adjust some things, so if it something you want to get into, drop me a line. I'm probably also going to do the early Tracey Ullman show Simpsons characters as they were wildly different from what they ended up to be when the series went off on it's own.

At present, the characters index will only show the first iteration.

Any questions, please let me know!

Oh hey! That's really neat, thank you for looking into it. I really appreciate it! I could also look into submitting characters that have been missing pictures on site. One of the things that would cause me to hesitate, is not knowing which character is voiced by which voice actor. At least for the shows that I have been re-watching recently, the credits would just show a list of voice actors, without pointing out their roles. Unless that doesn't matter too much, I wouldn't be able to fully verify that credit role like the others.

But I'll be sure to send a message if I dig into the character submissions.
