It's a little bit morbid to think about it, but I really don't know how much time I'll have left to work on the site. I've just turned 70; an age when a lot of men are starting to drop like flies. But old age tends to run in my family. My father was in his mid-nineties when he passed away as was my mom, so I could very well still be kicking around for quite a while. However, we are still hoping for someone to step up and take over the site once I'm gone so it doesn't die with me. (Of course, whoever does will also inherit the IAD archives which currently is around 13 terrabytes of cartoony goodness!)
Nevertheless, I'm going to be starting on the next version of the website sometime soon. During the time that the site has been live I've been patching it here and there, plugging up holes and adding various features to which (from a coding standpoint) it looks like a jalopy made out of spare parts. So it's time to look at things from a start from scratch standpoint so we can do things better. While we're doing this there should be (hopefully) no breakage in performance.
What this does mean is that now is the time that I'd like to hear from you as far as what features, corrections, or bugs you'd like to see worked in or out of the site. Nothing is off the table. I might not be able to incorporate all of them, but I will give them all my consideration. I'll be taking the spring and summer to get all my ducks in a row and sort things out and will probably start the job in earnest come autumn. I will try to keep up on daily updates and requested screenshots, but for the time being I'm going disallow requests for feature length screenshot requests since that just take too long to put together.
On bit of bad news, though. We were informed that because of Google Ads becoming so invasive that some viewers were disposed not to come to our site. In order to help with that, we turned off the automatic functions of Google Ads that were becoming so invasive, but that has caused our ad revenue to tank. If we can't find some other way of financing the site, well ... I don't know what we're going to do.
I think that's about it. As always, if you're interested in joining us as a researcher please feel free to drop me a line. We can use as many contributors as we can get to make this project a reality!
