It's a yearly visit for Jerry Beck now with the new once a month Stu's Show format, but there's a lot to talk about - including some controversy? Here we go...

"It's March, and that means it's time for Jerry's annual visit to the program. We'll hear all about the latest news in feature film animation (with a discussion regarding the controversial backlash WB has received from the pulling of "Coyote vs. Acme"), print media, streaming, and home video, including a look at the WB Archives' latest "Looney Tunes Collector's Choice Vol. 3. We'll also screen three classic cartoons from Jerry's archives, and we'll read your e-mails!"

https://stusshow.com/

This should be interesting... and if you've got questions or comments to ask to Jerry or Stu via e-mail, make sure those come in before the weekend recording session if possible.

There are two things that I would love Jerry Beck's input on:
1. Is he involved with the announcement from Kino Lorber on the upcoming Blu-ray release of the Fleischer feature Mr. Bug Goes To Town?
2. Is MGM planning any sort of celebration involving animation for the studio's100th anniversary this year?

Here's some good news... Arnie Lebovit's Puppetoon 3 Movie has been nominated for a 2024 Rondo Award for Best Blu Ray Collection. But he needs your help to win by voting for that movie by April 16th at midnight, selecting "Category 4 - Best Blu-ray Collection - The Puppetoon Movie Vol. 3 (Puppetoon Productions). Arnold Leibovit presents 28 more of George Pal’s animated shorts."

He's going to be on one segment of Stu's Show this coming Wednesday with Jerry Beck to talk about this prestigious honor.

To help him win, please send an e-mail to David Colton at taraco@aol.com by the deadline above - only one vote per person, and it must include your name in order for your vote to be counted.

Hey, if you folks missed the Stu's Show program with Jerry Beck as well as Arnold Lebovit making an appearance for a segment, the 236 minute show is now available in the archives for download in both audio and PPV formats. Jerry Beck only shows up once a year now, so he'll be back next March if all goes well.

Back in the day, Jerry would appear three times a year one in Spring, one in summer, and one in winter but I think that was way back when Stu Show was a weekly show.

When Stu moved and the show became a bi-weekly show I do recall that was the time Jerry was reduced to Spring appearances only, they did back-to-back shows.

Now that Stu has reduced the show to just a monthly show for unspecific health reasons, Jerry is obviously reduced to one appearance a year.

As for new releases Jerry said we should expect stuff to be announced and released between now and next year.

Wow, I am so disappointed in Stu for praising Zaslav's shelving of Coyote vs. Acme because he thinks the classic Looney Tunes characters shouldn't ever be touched again, on top of calling the people who enjoyed it at that test showing a sign of the decline of the general audience. And again he's constantly interrupting Jerry while kissing his keister at the same time, and going on anti-"woke" tangents.

Go ahead and yell at the clouds from your cave, Stu! Sheesh, what a grouch.

Not only that, but he spent five annoying minutes complaining about the recent Warner Archive releases of the "Hanna-Barbera Superstars 10" TV movies Blu-Ray set and dismissing them all, including "The Good, The Bad, and Huckleberry Hound" (if he's planning to get Tom Ruegger on the show, this sure isn't a good welcoming first impression). Some people happened to like them, Stu!

Moving on, here's the cartoons that were shown on the broadcast besides animated trailers and commercials:

The Old Fire Horse (Terrytoons, 1939)

Scrappy's Television (Columbia, 1934)

Betty Boop and the Little King (Fleischer, 1936)

I don't think anyone was asking for a Blu-ray upgrade on Hanna-Barbera Super Stars 10 (I know I wasn't but I'm considering getting it). if Stu disagrees regarding that decision by Warner Archive hes is free to rant about that decisions by Warner Archive on his show if he wants, Jerry of course is free to defend Warner Archive decision making but it didn't seem to me that Jerry was all too bothered by Stu rant on Super Stars 10 maybe Jerry isn't too found on these films either but I cannot remember if Jerry said anything in that regard.

If Stu wants to dislike anything HB produced post-1970s / 1980s. and anything in general post-1970s that's only his loss then. I do know for fact that there were many on the old GAC who shared Stus views on new things produced post-1970s or 1980s don't bother with any of it its all going be very bad.

as for Coyote vs. Acme, I don't necessarily disagree with Stu that the film could be awful so Zaslav might have been correct in canceling the film. Jerry didn't seem to be too bothered with what Stu said about the film considering he said he hadn't seen it. The bigger problem here though isn't whether the film is good or bad is rather the fact that it was 99% complete like Batgirl and Scoob 2 so writing these films of for tax purposes seems to waste everyone's time and talent on producing these things if no one is ever going to see it.

What does "woke" mean? I keep seeing it in the newspaper and even in the Edward R. Hamilton "Bargain Books" cata;og.

I don't want this to go off-topic and become a political thread.

But to make a long story short, "woke" is (or was) a black vernacular term that meant being attentive and aware of issues involving social and racial justice, but has now been co-opted into a conservative buzzword for things they perceive as progressive, liberal, PC, made by "the enemy," or something they just don't believe in.

Honestly, I feel like people that overused that term should spend more time asleep. And trust me, a daily nap lowers crankiness.

Anyway, back to topic.

i frankly just dont care if warner archive's gonna release latter day hanna-barbera stuff at this point. i remember people were bloody malding over the josie and the pussycats release for existing. people can either wake up and smell the roses (there's an entire generation of cartoons that exist after 1962 that people enjoy, regardless of their quality or place in history, and you're not being spoonfed it) or continue to be middle-aged children about it. i can still think of many releases i'd rather they do. but there's so many goddamn cartoons in the world.

does anyone know if jerry said anything about the linus the lionhearted project?

Yes, they did. Jerry shared some restored clips and said that some "lost episodes" were found. Also, it looks like MPI Entertainment will release the set instead of Thunderbean.
