I was wondering when this will be finally announced officially. Jerry actually hinted at this during the "Animation Brain Trust" panel at this year's San-Diago Comic-Con. See at the 18:20 mark:

I also knew this was in the works, but in fairness I think everyone here knew it would happen. Vol 1 started selling like gangbusters right away, George and Jerry probably got the greenlight for this set immediately after release date. Considering there's more films, and if the curation is just as solid as the first one, I bet we'll get even more sets. I just hope this time, the cartoons were actually redone

I'm just as excited as everyone else at this announcement and will surely make another pre-order as soon as practicable. Meanwhile, I wonder what is possible given the 'Blu-Ray debut' stipulation.

If we are obliged to stick with 1947/8 and later shorts, I would like to see shorts from the post-Golden Collection 'Super Stars' DVDs get some reevaluation. Besides the ones that were given phoney widescreen crop jobs, the remastering on the later discs (I'm thinking the Porky Pig & Friends and Sylvester/Hippety Hopper ones in particular) featured some skewed color grading that I've love to see undone.

Since some of the shorts on those discs, such as 'The Pest Who Came to Dinner', 'Dog Collared' and 'Pop 'Im Pop!' were de-Blue Ribbon-ized with their original opening rings, raising them up to Blu-Ray standard ought to be an easy win and would earn guaranteed goodwill from the animation community. That's if there's still no possibility of genuinely lost title sequences being found/reinstated, that is.

On The Extras podcast George states that a third volume "is already being worked on". Assuming 2 coming out at Christmas time will have great sales, then seems like a third volume is almost assured.

The mention of volume 3 is around the 19 minute mark.
