I woke up this morning to some devastating news: HBO Max has now removed all the 1951-2004 Looney Tunes cartoons.
NOOO!!! That had a lot of their best stuff! I hope it doesn't become the 2000s all over again when the Looney Tunes could not be seen anywhere except for DVD and Boomerang... I know they're still airing on MeTV, thankfully (and I just watched some there this morning), but even so, it can't beat the convenience of streaming at times.
Of course, I blame David Zaslav for this. Hasn't he done enough damage to Warner Bros.- Discovery and HBO Max already? (I pray that the new streaming service that will come from HBO Max and Discovery+ merging will reinstate those shorts, or they might go onto another streaming service as a stopgap solution, the way some of the other stuff already has.)

So he did a tax write-off on the shorts.

Of course, my first YouTube video of 2023 ended up being about the main topic at hand, featuring Daffy Duck (as I portrayed him in "Golden Book Video Killers") and Sam Valentino (my new private toon detective fox fursona) talking about this, complete with criticizing David Zaslav, and it's not the first time I've done so in a vlog...

WBDiscovery hasn't been the best when it comes to transparency. I'm specifically thinking of the infamous August 2022 incident where they abruptly pulled a ton of Cartoon Network shows without notifying that division. Most of us only found out about that from a news article.

This is even worse, though. I'm guessing if one service had to pick them up, it'd be Amazon Prime, given how some of the Cartoon Network shows have found a new home there.

According to what I've heard, the classic WB cartoons were some of the most watched content on the platform, which is likely why they weren't removed with all those CN shows not pulling in as many people. WB/Discovery has made it clear they're looking to reshape HBO Max, without making it clear how they're doing it, so we have to assume that this is apart of it. Considering they removed the more popular half, I assume they are open for license to another platform. It is interesting to see them keep the more experimental half

No need to panic, everyone! Someone contacted HBO Max about this, and it turns out the 1951-2004 Looney Tunes shorts being removed was just temporary due to a maintenance check. When I learned this, I let out a big "PHEW!"
Also, Jerry Beck stated that Warner Bros.- Discovery is re-restoring those newly-restored shorts on HBO Max, possibly to fix all those weird Photoshop errors and such, so it's likely that "maintenance check" is part of the re-restore procedure.

Because I don't believe he actually said that. And I won't without any proof.

For all I know, this is wily being an overtly zealous fanboy, like Toonatic.

That was uncalled for, at least I'm not negative all the time. Being zealous is a good thing.

I for one trust Wiley207. It's sounds legit to me too, I don't see why he would lie.

Jerry has stated that he never said it was a maintenance error. Please check your sources and stop getting willed up about it

Wily and Toonatic give cartoon fans a bad name, and make this and every other forum they hang out in a worse place. Calling them out is more than fair and overdue.

Right, this really reminds me of the M&M Guy fiasco.

Questioning information is fine. Calling someone an “over zealous fanboy” is pulling personality into the question and is not okay. If you have information that contradicts what he posted, by all means bring it on. But throwing in insults is not allowed. And it will stop now.

Here. It isn't true that Beck said anything
