I wanna say that I'm not a fan of these degrained restorations, and I'm wondering which team is behind them. They're not nearly as bad as a certain Mouse House's cleanup work, but it's still a shame to see great-looking prints with these setbacks.
Oh, I wholeheartedly agree. The de-graining also lowers the picture quality, which I'm NOT a fan of at all.
I did a side-by-side comparison with the DVD and HD prints of My Bunny Lies over The Sea, and although the HD print DID show more information on all sides of the picture, and had better colors, the DVD print had more grain, and properly restored titles. Which is better? I feel it's a matter of opinion.
(Thad and others think that these restorations are being done in India, by the way.)
