SpongeBob SquarePants inspired me to draw in the first place. It was one of the best cartoons of the 2000s, and knowing that the show's wacky antics made children around the world happy warms my heart.

Thank you for everything, Mr. Stephen Hillenburg. May your legacy be remembered by the world, and may you rest in peace.

To say that he was the creator of a colossal worldwide phenomenon would be an incredibly big understatement.

He will be missed!

I was sorry to hear about his passing. I didn't know about his illness until a few weeks after he received the Winsor McCay at this year's Annie Awards. I was kind of hoping he would live a little longer. Sadly, we lost him so soon. It's real big loss to the animation community and Nick fans. Here's one of my favorite SpongeBob moments as a tribute:

Well, this is a bummer... and it happened on the day after the 11th season of SpongeBob SquarePants ended, no less!

RIP Stephen Hillenburg. He will be missed.

I've been continuous watching SpongeBob throughout this year, and I'm honestly a little sad to lose him too, so I think the page for him on this site should have a mini-biography in his honour since I've only ever seen one around here.
