According to Bulgarian online publications, animator and director Rumen B. Petkov has died. Here he became known for his comics and animated films about Choko the Stork and Boko the Frog. He also made other short films and an animated feature called "Treasure Planet".
Then he migrated to the west, and in the late 90s he ended up at Hanna-Barbera/Cartoon Network, when he directed several episodes of the so-called Cartoon Cartoons like Dexter's Laboratory and Johnny Bravo. He worked on several other productions and was also a teacher at CalArts.
He had the misfortune to share a name with a well-known politician, which made finding info on him a bit tedious at times. Ironically, his passing made him the headliner today.
