The Thunderbean "Fleischer Rarities" set is finished and now shipping along with the bonus disc. Thanks to all who helped make the project happen- especially those that ordered the pre-order!

It's now on Amazon:

Hi Steve,

Is this a BluRay/DVD combo set like the Gullivers set or BluRay only?

I'm pretty sure it's Blu-ray only -- that's what it says on the cover in Amazon's listing . Compare that to (for instance) "Classics from the Van Beuren Studio" , where the cover clearly says "Blu-ray/DVD Combo". It's a little surprising though that Thunderbean does a Blu-ray only release of stuff which I don't think they have ever released on DVD.

That said, I find it a bit odd that Steve himself hasn't responded to this question yet. Several people have asked on Cartoon Research  and Facebook  as well.

As with "All Scrappy, All Warners" and "Cartoons to the Rescue", this release was advertised as a Blu-Ray/DVD combo, but then changed to Blu-Ray only (after the pre-order money was collected).

THREE times over? That's a little hard to believe.

Hi folks- So sorry to not address this earlier...

What I've found is that most people don't want the DVD these days. After quite a few emails saying *not* to send the DVD version with these sets, I decided that for the future it makes sense to only offer it to the folks that need it. It had been a while since those other sets were announced, and I can follow through and send a DVD to anyone that would really like one or needs one. So far no one has asked.

So, If anyone would like a refund or have a special DVD version sent, please let me know and I'll make one for you. I had debated including it with the Fleischer Rarities set; the extra expense was a big factor. Please email me (steves@thunderbeananimation.com) if you don't have a blu-ray and need the DVD version or would prefer a refund.

The pre-orders for all these sets are not gigantic- usually something under 100 or so... but there has been an amazing response on Amazon for the set so far. For those that get the 'special' sets, hold onto them! There's a lot of cartoons on them that I bet will never see a formal release...

But Steve... you say "no one" has asked about a DVD. How do you reckon that? On Thunderbean's Facebook page  alone, four people have asked about a DVD option for "Fleischer Rarities" – see the comments by Shelbie Copas, Justin Knox, Al Bischoff and Bill Smith. Justin Knox even asks if a DVD is "included in the set". And a comment by Martin D on Cartoon Research  says, "Hello Steve. I believe the set was a Blu-ray / DVD combo, right? Thanks." So it seems like many people WERE under the impression that this would be a combined Blu-ray/DVD release; and some would clearly prefer a DVD.

You are right, there are at least a few folks that would like it as a DVD. I'm working on a DVD version of the set and will send to anyone that would like it; just so I don't delay the sets going out to the pre-order, I'm including a note in them.

I just got my copy from Steve himself at this years Cinevent in Columbus, Ohio. While I knew ahead of time I wouldn't be able to play it due to a lack of a Blu-Ray player, I went and got it anyway. I enjoyed the liner notes at least.
