In April of 1983 The Disney Channel was launched as preinium cable network
To me it was like PBS, it also had the Teletons and tollfree number.
it was branded as a Family Network. not only it had the older stuff from the Disney library, it also had shows and films accuired from other companies
and shows like
Good Morning Mickey, Donald Duck Presents, Dumbo's Circus, Welcome To Pooh Corner,
The Walt Disney Studio Showcase, Mouseterpiece Theater and DTV.
Short behind the scenes glimpes "Dateline Disney"
The Disney Channel magazines had schedules of the shorts, films, and shows that were on the network.
by 1996 Disney bought out ABC telvision, and Disney Channel became somthing of a NICK copycat.
the network had been segmented, Preschool shows in the morning (PlayHouse Disney), high noon and afternoon kid stuff (ZOOG Disney)
and at night, my favorite: (Vault Disney)
to me that's Disney Channel's version of Nick at Night
Satchmo Armstrong voice impersonator: "Hang out with your favorite freinds and you'll feel like a kid again,
you see, there is fun and laughter to be found, with Walt's adventures all around
Take a wild ride, take a wild ride, take a wild ride on Disney"
annoncer: Comming up Next inside Vault Disney
"It Hasn't Changed a bit" sadly that did not last long. in 2002 Vault Disney was no more.
Ann Sweeney had Disney Channel rebranded again, without the classics. (and worse it stayed that way.)
some of the stuff made for Disney Channel later on I like. Kim Possible, House of Mouse, Lilio and Stitch the series.
the sitcoms bleh.
even with that, (Long winded rant and ramble) the network nowadays to me is missing something and that is the Disney Classics from the Walt era, and post Walt Era.
so why can't the network be a mixter of both old and new? (sigh)
in recent news: Disney Channel and other Disney presance on cable will be no more,
starting in foreign countries. those networks will be gone in favor of the streaming service Disney+https://www.theinformati...ng-overseas-tv-business? https://twitter.com/Disn...atus/1098791269298569216
