I guess the upcoming Porky Pig dvd set is the correct occasion to talk about this Avery classic. What is supposed to be missing? When the cut is supposed to have been made? Information by David, Mark, Jerry and Thad and whoever knows something about it would be very appreciated. Thanks

If I had to take a guess, the edit is probably at 5:13, since there's a sudden change in the soundtrack. No idea what exactly was cut, though.

Reminds me of something from 1945's Hare Remover, where Elmer suddenly goes from jubilant to scowling at the drop of a hat.

dbear linked this article  by Thad; he doesn't know either but he says that, according to David Gerstein, that whatever was cut goes back to as early as 1942.

Syndication: Looking through his magnifying glass, Porky is following a trail and walking toward a director sitting in his chair. There was a sudden cut to the villain laughing and waking away from the camera, as though he had covered the scene with his black cloak. Something was likely missing.
