There’s an Astra compilation print of Woos Whoopee and Whys and Otherwise, titled Felix on the Water Wagon

From Jerry Beck:

Paul said "This seems to be a compilation of two cartoons. I just watched "Wise and Otherwise" and found the first half of that cartoon is the last half of "On the Water Wagon".
"On the Water Wagon has Felix staying late at the bar with friends, walking home hallucinating elephants, then arriving home to his angry wife. This is where "Wise" picks up as he tells a wild story of why he was late." Then David said: "That would make "On the Water Wagon" a combination of WHYS AND OTHERWISE and FELIX THE CAT WOOS WHOOPEE, which I recognize as the source of the first half." Then Paul responded, "We actually have two prints with the "Wise and Otherwise" titles.

Moonlight for Two is in the Whimseyland package because the hillbilly dog is seen on the box. Love Bugs isn’t because it has a full end cue

Various Columbia cartoons (likely prior to the 1940s) also made their way through Cinepix according to this page of a 1960 issue of Broadcasting

Hey, thanks!

By-the-by, what's the source on this quote? I looked up the statement you posted here on the Google but only got this very thread.

Also giving a quick bonus that The Lady in Red does indeed have an Astra print. Medallion Pictures’ Cartoon Capers prints of various cartoons kept their end titles intact without creating a new one

(Hello Amigo is not the name Astra used)

Thanks for the info! I would've suspected that cartoon was actually taken from the Krazytoons package, given their usual theme music, interesting that it was actually an Astra 'toon.

Thanks! Wouldn't surprise me if "Tray for Dog" is the TerryToon "Old Dog Tray".

Additional note, I kinda' wonder if there's any Astra prints of live-action stuff out there - it seems they distributed a package called "Old Timer Comedies" with 300 or so silent comedies, as well as some Chaplin shorts - what I'd do to check out those prints someday...

Screen Attractions had a Chaplin short, under the name “Distress Signals”. Astra mostly seemed to focus on cartoons

Astra, Screen Attractions, Exhibitor's Pictures, Modern Film Sales, etc. etc. etc. all seem to have been M.J. Kleinerman companies. Each was simply operating at different times throughout his 40 or so year career of buying/reissuing, duping, and pirating films. Some of these companies may have had different people listed as their chief operating officers. Cinepix was probably Astra, simply using a different company name at a certain point. We may never know the full extent of what each company issued since Kleinerman's archive was vast and handled in a pretty willy-nilly way.

Found another Astra cartoon: "Felix Revolts", released in 1923. A distinctively Astra title card for it was found in an eBay listing, from a print duped to 8mm for home movie use by Atlas Films, itself another interesting film pirate.

I’m still wondering what the “In Diland” short is. The reel is below the Baby Sitting cartoon (also unknwon) as seen in this Facebook post

Another reel had the name of “Imitation Kitty”, which is likely Copy Cat from 1941, while 3 cans above is “Old Folks at Home”

That "In Diland" cartoon, looking at that photo, seems to me like it actually says "In Toyland". "Cat in Toyland", no doubt.

No prob! However, I forgot another one…..

Krazytoons also bootlegged a couple of Astra/Cinepix’s prints of cartoons (as evident by “Daze” in some of their title cards), so The Cactus King (Saddle Daze) was truly in the latter’s package

Fancy that!
Thanks again!

Whilst goin' through the GAC forums, I found another one to add to the list: the Boyd La Vero "Marty the Monk" short "Mexically Lilly", which somebody acquired a print of 'way back when. I have no idea if the short was retitled on that person's Astra print or not.
