Normally I would give a week's notice but since the show is bi-weekly and simulcast since show #500, I'm giving a two week notice from now on. From the website:

"It's the final program of the eleventh season of "Stu's Show", and we're closing it out with the annual summer
visit from "The King of All Things Cartoons"...Mr. Jerry Beck! He'll have the latest news in feature films
(including his reviews of "The Emoji Movie" and "Despicable Me 3"), print media, television, streaming, and of
course, home video. We'll also have an extensive tribute to June Foray, the legendary queen of voiceovers
who passed away on July 26 at the age of 99. As regular followers of the show know, both Jerry and your
genial host were close personal friends with June for many years, and she loved appearing on the show as much
as she could. Jerry will also comment on the best and the worst from this year's Comic Con, and he'll screen
and offer commentary on three classic cartoons from the golden age of animation. All this, plus your e-mails.
It's a season finale that you won't want to miss!"

Hopefully this will be when we get the announcement of that Warner Archive release that's supposed to be announced this month (if it's not announced sooner). I don't know if I knew he'd be on this show again this month, but it didn't occur to me that it could be announced on this show.

Hope something will be said about the Warner Archive's supposed DVD release of classic cartoons.

Today's the day for e-mail questions - just make sure they're not something already discussed, not when something is coming out either, and that it is brief and to the point.

I'll miss a portion of the show today so hopefully the details will be filled in.

Please don't forget to support the show and become a Stu's Show VIP... we really need more people to support this program for years to come.

And they started by playing trailers for Top Cat Begins and Tom and Jerry: Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory, done for irony and they're talking about it now.

Jerry Beck is giving a retrospective of June Foray. Beck talks about putting out a collection of Playhouse Pictures commercials with Foray walking around the old Playhouse building.

They're talking about "Ferdinand" now.

There's a Terrytoons book coming out?! Some guy named "Win Hammaock" wrote it, and Beck communicated with him about 20 years ago.

Beck briefly mentioned Dave Bossert's Oswald book (he got an advance copy).

I briefly heard a mention of "They Drew as They Pleased" by Didher Gidez.

They also discussed the book "Ink and Paint", about Disney's ink and paint women. Also female animators throughout history.

Thad's doing an update on his "Sick Little Monkeys" book.

Oh, and a Tom Terrific ebook!!

Beck brought up "Hero-a-Go-Go", a book about 1960s superhero knockoffs (?). It contains an interview with Ralph Bakshi about Terrytoons, Paramount, Mighty Heroes, then Rocket Robin Hood...

Mark Arnold got a Harvey book printed!

Hoo boy, Thunderbean talk!! Apparently the live-action stuff sells better. Fleischer Rarities is slated for a September release. The Little King: Special Edition is on the way, the Flip, Rainbow Parade, and Comicolor sets are still on the way.

In 2018 Steve will be releasing a restored "Mr. Bug Goes to Town"!!

As much as I like the show, I hate Stu's sensitive button regarding corporations.

If you want a factory-pressed release, order through the Warner Shop. Every other online retailer will be DVD-R.

George Feldstein deserves credit for this release (and probably the title) so give him a hand!

The new-to-DVD Porky cartoons will be restored from the interpositives and not negatives (no digital corrections).

If you want to keep classic cartoons on DVD alive, buy the set (I know I will)!

Stay tooned for more in this post.

Beck says that the reason there is no Blu-Ray is that "George" has a standard of excellence when it comes to the rest of their cartoon sets. There was no way they could restore the cartoons, and the ones that are restored (like the ones that are on the Golden Collections) are on there that way. The Warner titles will be intact, though. They're not transferring from the negatives.

About the possible censorship in "Porky the Wrestler", upon close inspection there is an edit; a jump-cut. Beck thinks that the print used had the scene cut from future copies. He says that the cut will not be noticeable if you're not looking for it. The cut was there when the cartoon was sold to Sunset.

The reason "Yankee Doodle Daffy" was left out is because it's a color short and the focus is on the black-and-white shorts.

It's coming out on September 19!
