If anyone missed it... closed auction for a 16mm LPP reduction of a 'A Lamb In A Jam' theatrical:
https://www.ebay.com/itm...s-Noveltoon/183216817851

Notice how there is no "by Technicolor" byline at the end of the short! Stanchfield's recreation of the title card doesn't match the actual illustration, as to be expected.

Hey everyone!

I found a 16mm Mickey Mouse cartoon, "Mickey's Grand Opera" (1936) in different titles.

Here's the link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/283090793896

16mm dupe of 'Red Riding Hood' theatrical marked '1953' on Kodak stock:
https://www.ebay.com/itm...s-B-W-Sound/232214495461

Contains splices. Thunderbean already has a transfer of another 16mm theatrical dupe used for "Uncensored Animation From The Van Beuren Studio", but for anyone who wants to grab this, it's still a nice find to add your collection.

16mm dupe of Castle Films home release of 'Grand Uproar' theatrical on Kodak stock:

Can anyone identify this unknown cartoon? It's a one minute home movie reel, but the only screenshot tells that the cats look like Frank Moser's work.

I've had to delete several posts in this thread pertaining to original titles of certain cartoons that we don't know aren't in the possession of Disney, WB, Steve, etc.

I'll quote from the rules, which I just edited thanks to an influx of these kinds of risky posts:

Quote:
14. Regarding the "eBay Finds Thread": if you find something especially valuable (i.e., a cartoon with original titles, a "lost" cartoon), DO NOT POST THE LINK(S) PUBLICLY. Instead, alert someone like Jerry Beck, Steve Stanchfield, Tommy Jose, etc. PRIVATELY. If just one person with deep pockets sees such an auction, it could become exponentially difficult to get. If you're unsure whether an auction is in "valuable" territory, contact a moderator privately, or err on the side of caution and refrain from posting it. If you still want to post links to these things, wait until the auction has ended (and I mean ended, not just relisted).

I felt unnerving and shy on whoever to contact, whether it would be Stanchfield or someone else; so I felt about sending any links privately despite the rules.

Thanks again.

This is amusing. A Paul Terry Fable... or is it?

The title cards are convincing, but it jumps straight to what looks to be 'Horton Hatches An Egg'!

16mm monochrome dupe of 'Lonesome Ghosts' theatrical:

While it's not special, I find the nature of this print curious, hence why I posted it here.

Searching up closed auctions finds us a sight we may as well have missed, or apparently not, because dbear bought it:

16mm British printdown of 'The Stork Market' Columbia Pictures "Krazy Kat" theatrical, which looks to be struck from a silent negative/positive containing the full picture area*:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/i...-FILM-REEL-/382375445919

* "Krazy Kat" sound shorts from Columbia Pictures Corp. were in Movietone aperture for the first few titles.

I have all the Krazy Kat prints from this seller now. STORK MARKET, LIGHT HOUSE KEEPING, DISARMAMENT CONFERENCE and an edited print of HANSEL AND GRETEL (Terrytoon). All very old slightly scratchy silent printdowns, 2 of them are on Kodak stock dated 1935. Thinking of passing them onto a better home as they are very slightly warped though run well on my projector.

If you don't mind making high resolution shots of the opening and closing titles for archival purposes, that would be a nice favor.

If I recall, Mark Kausler's 16mm prints of said titles mentioned above, scanned for "Jerry Beck's Garage Sale" are from television materials with new titles, no?

Did anyone save any screenshots of the auction?

Need to know if the titles were one of the two variants: generic Audio-Cinema titles with three cartoon animals playing instruments or the Educational Pictures titles that show a lamp.

I'm starting to believe that there were alternate issues of Terry-Toon titles during Paul Terry's time spent with Audio-Cinema as their financial backer, specifically produced for theaters that picked up Educational Pictures packages. While I do not have anything to confirm this, I am willing to say something else:

The 35mm nitrate answer print elements for 'Caviar', according to Jerry Beck, as to be expected show titles only crediting Audio-Cinema; the opening title card has the animals I mentioned above. Thomas Stathes' 16mm element of 'Monkey Meat' also shows Audio-Cinema titles with said animals, and so do Steve Stanchfield's 35mm element for 'Hungarian Goulash'. Mark Kausler's 16mm element of 'Salt Water Taffy' shows Educational Pictures titles crediting Audio-Cinema; these have different, plain title cards in their entirety, and are the basis of later title cards after the Audio-Cinema era.

If I am correct, Ideal Films Ltd., an overseas Educational Pictures outlet, appeared to have sourced elements out of random, evidenced by the end title cards shown for the surviving British 35mm nitrate elements for 'Club Sandwich' and 'Popcorn'; the former, of which Ideal Films used an Audio-Cinema issue, and the latter which used an issue from Educational Pictures.
