A very, very impressive list indeed!!! And maybe this Turtle missed seeing it, but shouldn't "The Song Of The South" (the full feature) be on the list as well because of its complete lack of home-video release in the U.S.??Mickey Mouse Mickey Mouse

Unfortunately, my observation is that Disney is VERY tight with regards to enforcing copyright on Song of the South, which is why full (and watchable) copies of that film are scarce online. A friend of mine actually tried uploading all the animated scenes in one video just days ago, but it was taken down almost immediately.

It's a mixed blessing that, even as they pay extra-special attention to that film and to their other widely-known films, they've ignored all the rarities linked in this thread. On the one hand, there is very little chance of most of them gaining the restoration they deserve (heck, Disney can't even restore their most well-known classics properly), but on the other hand they're freely available for people to view.

The Songs in Song of the South and Splash Mountain were inspired by old southern black folk music and (gulp) minstrill show tunes........

Jim Korkis: It was Walt himself that came up with the word Zip A Dee Doo Dah

hmmmm

What the ghost of Stethpen Foster?!

Zip Coon the inspiration for the song Zip a dee doo dah? yikes.

I'm not sure where Walt heard that minstril tune, If minstril shows were still a thing when he was young, or perhaps did he heard that song on an old gramaphone record?

If you look at the other films Walt had done, the songs have sound and seem like nonsenceical like Bibity Bobity Boo, and Supercalfragisiticexpalldocous.

Behind the scenes footage of the outdoor live action secenes of Song of the South (1946)

with the only onscreen apearance of the film's cinematographer Gregg Toland (Citzen Kane)

these were previously on the Walt Disney Family Museum website. (no longer on their website) A kind youtube uploader has saved the footage.

Before Walt Disney's weekly TV series Disneyland (AKA:The Wonderful World of Disney)
Disney had two TV speicals One Hour in Wonderland and The Walt Disney Christmas Show.

they are clip shows like what Disney did a couple years later in the 1950's

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WmD1Xt-MaY
One Hour in Wonderland (1950) Walt Disney's first tv speical

sadly this youtube video has been cut from 50 mins to 18 mins

the complete program can be found on Disney Exclusive Archive Collection Alice In Wonderland laserdisc,
the Alice in Wonderland 2 disc dvds and the 2011 Ailce in Wonderland 60th Aniiversary bluray

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZikrYDfswk
Fragment from The Walt Disney Christmas Show (1951) as seen at the El Capitan Theatre at the opeing night of Peter Pan on February 1 2007

other fragments of the Walt Disney Christmas Show can be found in the documentary The Making of Peter Pan.

Is The Walt Disney Christmas Show (1951) Walt Disney's second tv special on the UK Peter Pan Special Edition 2 disc DVD from 2007?

Did they ever show this on Disney Channel (long before the sitcoms)?

Is The Walt Disney Christmas Show one of the hot potatos that Disney would not make avaible in the US?

The tar baby scene from Song of the South is one of the clips used in The Walt Disney Christmas SHow

It's similiar to One Hour in Wonderland (1950)

The Qeastionable Disney Animated Feature Canon

Acadamy Award Review 1937 Disney/Motion Picture Academy and Musicland 1955 Disney/RKO not included in the list Disney made

Academy Award Review
1937/1966 clips:

Walt Disney's Musicland 1955 lost Package Feature. This was made part of a final bitter deal with RKO at that time was run by a person who Walt did not like: Howard Hughes

as discussed in a old post long ago some one found a rare 35mm print

The Black Cauldron promotional materials and the list of of the Disney Animated Feature Canon

The Disney animated feature canon from 1985 is like the one the USA has these days. The cannon has the package features, the south America package features and the Winnie The Pooh package feature.
SInce 1985 The Black Cauldron (1985) is the 25th animated feature in the Disney animated feature cannon, but in 1981 The Fox and The Hound (1981) was said to be the 20th.
here is the Trailer

and the short “Once Upon a Mouse”(1981) that was shown before The Fox and The Hound (1981)
watch here:

Here where I live in the USA, the film Dinosaur (2000) is Included in Disney Animated Feature Cannon

In Uk and other countries Disney/Will Vinton's The Wild (2006) is included

in the year 1998, the 1996 extended cut of Bedknobs and Broomsticks (1971) was shown as part of Vault Disney on The Disney Channel.

here is the collection of "gears behind the ears" segments before the film started.
