I am befuddled. The Pink Panther animated shorts are being RE-ISSUED in HD on blu-ray, yet we can't even get an official complete Tex Avery set on standard-def MOD DVD in the year 2018. It's not even on the long-range radar. No one here wants to even discuss the possibility.

Those who have access to this material might want to reconsider their priorities.

......and yet we also don't get an official announcement for any of the Disney shorts on Blu-ray, and during Mickey Mouse's 90th anniversary, natch. The shorts haven't been available in a comprehensive format in less than ten years (the fourth volume of The Chronological Donald, to be precise; the shorts overall haven't seen another release since seven years ago), and yet the characters they represent are way more recognizable - and in many cases, popular - than either the Pink Panther or Tex Avery's one-shot cartoons.

I think we might get an answer for that problem very soon.

True. I would definitely purchase ALL of the Disney shorts if they offered them in HD on Blu-Ray, even though I already own most of the Disney Treasures DVD sets. The upgrade to HD makes it worth it to me, without question.

We'll see what Jerry Beck has to say on Stu's show this week. Maybe he has some exciting news about future releases?!

I'm hoping with TCM showing MGM cartoons on Saturday morning now that may be foreshadowing a MGM/Tex release!

I'm certainly getting The Loud House, but I'm not sure about Peter Pan...what if there's nothing on there worth a double-dip (like a long-lost Alice/Oswald short or an actually interesting bonus feature)?

I would also want there to be some sort of release for the Disney shorts, but we must remember that when they celebrated Mickey's 85th anniversary five years ago, we saw nothing.......and two years later, we only saw two character-specific shorts on the collection they did release. If they did 4K scans of half their "old" catalogue (no, not regular HD, but "UltraHD") a couple of years back, there's no way they should leave them unseen to the public especially considering whose anniversary it is this year.

I'm not going to watch the next "Stu's Show", unfortunately (I have lots of schoolwork to focus on by then), but can anyone who is watching notify me of anything I would be interested in?

Sure! There is a specific post about Stu's next show here: http://www.intanibase.co...-on-Stu-s-Show---3-21-18

I'm sure there will be lots to post about after the show in that thread.

Animalympics... whoa! I heard great things about this. I've pre-ordered it. Thanks for posting that!

Also, not sure when, but maybe next month, there is supposed to be a documentary released about the making of Ren & Stimpy called "Happy Happy Joy Joy - The Ren & Stimpy Story". I receive monthly updates about this project, and that is the last one I got, back on February 28th. I'll post more about it when I find out the actual release date. Here is the link: https://www.indiegogo.co...tory-cartoon-animation#/

YES!!!! Perfect!! Now I won't have to pay a hundred bucks for this on eBay! And I'm getting this set mainly for the CinemaScope Droopys.

Hopefully, Warner Archive will eventually re-release the Popeye sets as well; those have been on my radar for a while, but I shouldn't have to pay almost two hundred dollars for them.

I'm guessing the DVNR problems will still be present, correct?

I'm afraid so......which, considering how trigger-happy Warner is with simply reusing older transfers for re-releases, seems pretty legit.

If I were to buy this DVD, I'd rather get the original factory-pressed version on eBay, which usually goes for less than the estimated $100 that the article above states. If the discs are "burned" and are just plain DVD-Rs, I'm not going to bother.

And this is coming out:

https://www.shoutfactory...-edition?product_id=6756

Everyone take a good look, because this could take physical home media into a whole new direction.

Also, the Pink Panther Volume 2 is set for June 26th on DVD and Blu-ray.

Are you sure this is for real or is it going to end up becoming yet another April Fools joke? For a long time, we all thought Disney wasn't one to license its work to another company (barring their partnership with Anchor Bay a couple decades ago), and I'm worried that despite how much I would like to get this, it looks suspiciously like an early April Fools joke.

Regardless, who else here hopes Disney considers their catalog of animated shorts worthy of a Blu-ray release, especially because Mickey Mouse's 90th anniversary is this year?

Um, Alex Hirsch mentioned it on his Twitter?

Besides, Gravity Falls is a show with a tremendous fanbase. If this turns out to be an April Fools joke, the fanbase would be livid.

Thanks for fully clearing it up for me.

Still, isn't it odd that although they're up and kicking on areas like TCM, the Facebook page of Disney Movies, and even in some cases, screened in theaters, Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Pluto, and Oswald (among many others) have yet to actually make it to a medium where people can actually own their shorts again (and not just DVD, but Blu-ray and the newer 4K UltraHD format)?
